Starting something new

Hello, Tony here!
A bit overwhelming writing in general but I'm a suck for punishment. So I've signed up for the Markdown Jam, and decided I will try to give it a crack. Something small but with the goal of using only web apps that run in browsers to create everything from the ground up.

There are some great resources on the page on how to get started on the markdown Jam page, but I've chosen notion as my go-to editor. The free option is great and has everything I need when I'm prepping my games. The only thing is it once you're in the code block, there is no spell checking...

As I do graphic design by trade, I’ve been using Photoshop and Adobe’s suite for many years, but as mentioned before, I wanted to try something new; to break that repetition. I stumbled upon a [Pixlr]; a browser-based app that from what I can tell, has all the functions like photoshop - and that is a tick for this project.

Another part I really love about the TTRPG space is the usage of public domain images! Which I’ve not really done before. so I’ve used images scanned by the British library in their Flickr account.

So far so good….

Quick test

Huge fan of the threshold filter. but before I did that, I switched on the auto black and white and tried the half-tone function.

There is a nice selection of fonts, and the ones I liked were behind a paywall - and there is an option to you can upload your own fonts. But keeping this simple, I’ve just gone and went with what was available.

The strange thing is when I merged an empty image with the title to flatten it, it gave be a black background when I half-toned it. Happy accidents, kind of dig it. Lets go with it.

I already see some type clean up with the capitals...

Okay got a visual down and a WIP title. Setup a Dev log on itch.io, now to get writing!

Ideas is keeping it simple - low stakes adventure, few key areas and maybe even a hex map.

I'll end it here and begin.
